you can make sure you're not losing a few bucks here and there to "fees" or other crap, and you have the confidence of always knowing *exactly* what your balance is/should be.

i am talking about the physical act of writing it all down in the register and making sure the math balances.

I use my banks online stuff to keep track of my account though, just look it up whenever I want to make sure something got paid etc.
