rumor at this point, but from a very respected source/site, which is why i say you've prolly already read the thread... (fbg staff member, jb, from "buddy" in the dallas organization).

sure, we all knew this signing was likely, but this is the first person to say it's a done deal, already signed, who i put any faith in being legit :P

they won't pay fer vinatieri... of the other big names out there, mare seems most likely (with the dolphins getting the idiot kicker).

can't tell you how many games dallas lost via awful kicker past couple years :P

it's a mixed bag with T.O.... but it's ultimate relief with a quality kicker. can't believe i just typed that. lol

Mare is at 1.4. I think Vanderjagt is around the same number. I would rather keep Mare personally.

but couldn't imagine vandy demanding less $ than mare :P i don't know the way those minds work... lol i just wanted dallas to get somebody respectable (and yeah, i'd take mare over vandy fer a couple different reasons... attitude, kickoffs, etc.)

now, answer me this if you know... does indy have a kicker other than jose cortez atm? i understand their need to rid themselves of vandy (sorta), but certainly they have somebody other than cortez inked, no???

and yeah thats one of my major knocks against taking Vaderjagt. He cant kickoff. His distance blows so then you have to have someone else handle the kickoff duties. I dont know enough about the other kicker we have on the roster that is currently in NFL Europe. I dont know if he has the distance or not.

Mare is an 82% kicker and can handle the kickoffs duties.

Mare is saying he doesnt want to restructure down from 1.4. I can understand that. But at what price is Vanderjerk going to sign for? I cant see it being less than that since he's the most accurate kicker in history (altho I think its inflated since he's a dome kicker his entire tenure.) He's going to want teh jack, too.

I hope Mare and the Fins can come to an agreement. He's stable and been with the team for like 9 years now.
