Students milling around protesting something that's done and done and not getting undone.

Then there's an old women's college that was given to Tulane in trust years ago because it was going bankrupt.

Well it's never once made a dollar and now with so many of the students not coming back and enrollment going to be down school wide about 15-20 percent, Tulane folded the Newcomb (women's college) into Tulane officially.

You can imagine the mouth frothing that ensued. Even a class action law suit.

The city looks way better than before, but it still reminds one of Mexico or even Beirut. Half of the signal lights simply do nothing and the temp stop signs get stolen so you basically drive by consensus - and let me assure you that consensus is generally reached by the asshole in the big doolie truck with the signage reading: Generic Fly By Night New Orleans Contruction Company Ran By One White Guy and 50 Mexicans - Call Now at a Texas Area Code Cell Phone!

It's like the whole place is half chaos and half a different sort of chaos.

Before class on Friday we went to lunch early around 11. It was great. We sidled up to the bar and knocked back 3 Turbodogs each with two Law profs. Then we all went to class having completed the standard New Orleans liquid lunch.

Used to be that you had the liquid lunch as a side to a poboy, but apparently they just skip the meal these days.

They kept telling us about HOW MUCH public interest law there was to do. Well that's nice. It's also the area of law that you know, you don't get paid for. It's like doing pro bono ... every day.

As you can imagine, I'm completely stoked.

Chaos, political infighting, Mexicans everywhere (I love Mexicans), beer for breakfast, beer for lunch, rum and Cajun food/tequila and Mexican food for supper, Liberals and Conservatives going at each others' throats, white people DEMANDING more NEGROID people in town and NEGROID people DEMANDING that somebody please fucking clean up the traffic.

I will thrive.

:D
