actually, the Texans signed C Mike Flannagan from Green Bay, letting McKinney move back to his natural position (left guard) =)

If you're team is in a position to draft the best player available as opposed to being required to draft what they need, then that means they are in good shape.

Teams that draft out of need tend to reach for best available at a specific position, which tends to cause players to be drafted higher than they probably should have been drafted.

For instance... the top tier TE's (Vernon Davis, Leonard Pope) will be gone well before the Texans pick in the 2nd round... do you use the first round pick overall on them? Of course not. If the Texans didn't sign Putzier, they would need to draft a TE - if they drafted a TE in the first round, it would fill that need - but they would be overpaying for someone who shouldn't have been drafted that high.

Same goes for rounds 2-7... if you draft out of need, you usually end up hurting yourself by reaching for guys who probably should be drafted a bit lower than where you pick.

he's a WR and a RB. So many options with him. And he'll be stepping into the perfect situation because the Texans wont try to pound him up the middle 30 times a game (IE Tampa with Caddy last year.) And he's got a HC that was the OC for a team that always produced monster rushers even with mediocre talent (Reuben Droughns, Mike Anderson, Tatum Bell, etc.) The OL is still a big question mark. But maybe Kubiak sees something in his lineman that will work in a zone blocking scheme since they didnt even make an attempt at on of the OL in FA.

Bush just gives you so many more tricks in the playbook. He'll be brilliant in the slot. You can run reverses with him because of that insane speed and his knack for getting around that corner and turning it up field (remember the play against Texas.) And then you still have a RB that you can feed ball to 10-15 times or throw it to him out of the backfield because he has excellent hands.

You would have to give me like a first round and 2 second round pick for me to even consider not taking teh Reggie.

That gives them the luxury of drafting the best available players instead of drafting by need. hehe

Bush will come in and be an immediate impact player. One of Denver's former coaches went to USC to coach their OLine... so Bush is already familiar with the same blocking scheme that the Texans will be using under Kubiak. woot! :D
