it should be company policy to do whateverthefuckyouwanttodo on the first rollout cuz the client ALWAYS wants it revised to the point of re-engineering the whole project

so, last year we get this conversion project handed to us. some would say that, some would say that *I* got this conversion project handed to *me* lol.

Anyway, I got it all specced out. One part of the conversion involved tables with parent-child relationship. However, we were given the data in a denormalized text file that was missing the unique ID's of the children. I explained this to the user, that without the unique ID's of the children, that I would be unable to replicate the parent-child relationship in the new database after converting the data.

"no problem"

Are you sure?

"yes."

Are you positive that you're sure?

"yes, we're positive."

Are you 100% certain that you're positive that you're sure?!?"

YES!!

(I asked them SIX FUCKING TIMES).

This was last year. I proceed with the conversion, and get it all done a couple of weeks ago.

Today, about 3 months after I had converted a specific client, they try to place their FIRST ORDER using the new system (which they were supposed to test, but never did), and they have a cow because they can't order child records individually using the new system.

HELLO? MCFLY? I WARNED YOU ABOUT THIS LAST FUCKING YEAR.

Now they are saying that there are unique ID's for the children records, but they were "hidden", and they can provide them to us so we can RECONVERT the data again.

*shakes head and sighs*
